Signal transduction is the process by which a cell responds to substances through signaling molecules on the surface of and inside the cell. These signaling molecules can include hormones, neurotransmitters, and growth factors that bind to a specific protein receptor on or in the cell. The signals are then passed from one molecule to another resulting in a specific cell response such as cell proliferation, death, differentiation, and metabolism.
In a pathological state, the response can result in damage-causing signals and the growth of malfunctioning cells, leading to cancer, inflammation, arteriosclerosis, arthritis, and neurodegenerative diseases.
SouthernBiotech offers a number of signal transduction antibodies produced and validated in-house to ensure they meet your specific needs.
